EON Allocates 62 Vehicles for Putra Heights Gas Pipeline Fire Victims

Vehicles provided without charge for one month giving immediate relief to impacted families

Edaran Otomobil Nasional Berhad (“EON”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad, is providing 62 vehicles for the use of the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire victims and parties providing assistance without any charge for a period of one month.

A total of 40 vehicles are being provided to families whose cars had been destroyed or severely damaged. The vehicles comprise of sedans, sport utility vehicles, and multipurpose vehicles from EON’s retail brands, namely Proton, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen. Other vehicles are also being provided through EON’s car rental subsidiary, Avis Malaysia. In addition, 22 units of pick-ups and the “smart” brand of electric vehicles are also being provided to government agencies and organisations that are providing assistance and relief to the victims.

“Many families have not only lost their homes, but also their main means of transportation due to the fire. As amongst the country’s largest multi-brand vehicle dealerships, EON is grateful to be in a position to give them some immediate relief in this difficult period,” said Akkbar Danial, Chief Executive Officer of EON.

Akkbar, who is also the Head of Automotive Distribution at DRB-HICOM Berhad, added, “It is heartening to see the many NGO’s that have come forward to help the fire victims. Our fleet of pick-up trucks are ready for deployment to assist in their relief efforts.”

“For now, EON is providing the vehicles to affected persons and NGO’s without charge for one month. This may may be extended depending on specific needs,” Akkbar added.

“On behalf of the EON Group, I offer our deepest sympathies to all those affected by this catastrophe. We pray for those who suffered injuries for a quick recovery, and hope for everyone affected to have the strength, courage, and support needed to rebuild their lives,” Akkbar said.

Akkbar expressed his gratitude to the Selangor Menteri Besar’s Office, Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council for supporting EON on this initiative. He also commended the various parties that have responded urgently in ensuring the wellbeing of local communities following the unfortunate incident.
